Day 1: Arrival Entebbe
On arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be warmly welcome to Uganda by our Tour Guide. Drive to Mabamba wetland in Mpigi swamp for birding .Common birds to be seen in adjoining wetlands include: Rare Shoebill, Lesser Jacana, Blue Swallow, Black-Shouldered Nightjar, Afep Pigeon, Blue Breasted Bee-Eater, Papyrus Gonolek, White Winged Warbler, secretary bird etc. Return for dinner and overnight at Lake Victoria Hotel Entebbe. Meal plan: Dinner.
Day 2: Entebbe-Mbale
After early breakfast and a briefing from your safari guide, you will set off to Eastern Uganda via Tiriny Road to Pallisa. Drive to Lake Kyoga Wetland for birding. This is the nearest site for the Shoebill, African kingfisher, Pelicans, weaver bird, egrets, swifts, sunbird, falcons, etc Spend the whole day birding in this wetland and the surrounding areas have a picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight is had at Mbale Resort. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.
Day 3: Mbale-Soroti
This morning after breakfast with parked lunch you will depart to Kumi and a boat ride to Tisai Island inside Lake Bisina and associated swamps for birding. This is the only place you may see birds endemic to Uganda . African hornbill, Fox weaver bird, shoebill, pelicans, egrets, eagles, secretary bird, owls etc. Dinner and overnight at Soroti Hotel. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.
Day 4: Soroti-Murchison Falls
The day begins with greeting the early morning rising sun and breakfast. Drive to Lira-Kamudini road and to Murchison falls for lunch. Afternoon drive for birding around the associated swamps of Lake Albert and River Nile to look for Rare shoebill, heron, cormorants, ducks, bee eaters, kingfisher, fish eagle Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.
Day 5: Murchison Falls
After breakfast, we take a special boat ride along river Nile and Lake Albert delta for birding the whole day with parked lunch. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.
Day 6: Murchison Falls-Kibale
An early start by road for Kibale National Park via Albertine escarpment. Enjoy the rift valley scenery and section of Lake Albert throughout the journey. The distance is long! Overnight at Kyaninga Lodge Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.
Day 7: Kibale-Semliki
An early morning entrance to Kibale forest for combined primate walk and birding. Here you will come across the following key species of birds: White Collard Olive back, Leaf Love, African Broadbill, Willcock’s Honey guide, Green Breasted Pitta, African Pitta, Grey Winged Robin, Red Winged Francolin, Joyful Greenbul, White Bellied Crested Flycatcher, Uganda Woodland Warbler, Abyssinian Ground Thrush, Red Chested Fluftail, Grey Winged Robin, White Napped Pigeon, and Chestnut- Winged Starling. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, visit Bigodi Sanctuary. Here, we will be able to see the fruiting trees, which attract Narina Trogon, Pied Hornbill, Yellow Spotted, Hairy Breasted and Yellow-billed Barbets and have an evening drive to Semliki Wildlife reserve. A night game drive in Semliki to view nocturnal is a must. Dinner and overnight at Semliki Safari lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.
Day 8: Semliki
Morning breakfast close to the pool and watch as the Hamerkop dips into the water and the Weaver birds flock nearby. A boat trip on Lake Albert to see the Shoebill and a picnic is amazing. The key species here include the African Pygmy Goose, Red-necked Falcon, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Blue-Breasted Bee-Eater, Black-billed Barbet, Piapiac, Leaflover and Black-chinned Quail-Finch. Dinner and overnight at Semliki Safari lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.
Day 9: Semliki-Queen Elizabeth
After breakfast, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park . Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the foothills of the ‘Mountains of the Moon and many birds as you enter the park. After lunch a boat trip on the Kazinga Channel to view and photograph hippos, buffaloes, elephants, bushbucks, warthogs and a variety of bird life such as Great White and Pink-backed Pelicans, Great and Long-tailed Cormorants, Open-billed Stork, African Jacana, Malachite and Pied Kingfishers. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.
Day 10: Queen Elizabeth
An early sunrise Birding drive along Kasenyi and Queens Mile to view savannah birds. You will view the Birds en route to Mweya Safari Lodge for lunch. After lunch, sightseeing around the crater region and baboon cliffs. Evening walk to the bird hide out is rewarding before retiring for dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.
Day 11: Queen Elizabeth-Bwindi
After breakfast drive to Bwindi via Ishaha sector an area famous for the rare tree climbing lions. Key birds which may be seen include :African Skimmer, Black Rumped Button Quail, Verreaux’s Eagle Owl, Red Footed Falcon, Lesser Flamingos, Grey Capped Warbler, White’s and Abdim’s Storks (in season), Amur Falcon, Ovampo Sparrow hawk, Woolly-necked and Saddle-billed Storks, and numerous classes of Raptors, Vultures and Plovers. Continue on to Bwindi via Ishasha road. .Dinner and overnight will be had at Buhoma Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.
Day 12: Bwindi
Early morning entry into gorilla sanctuary after a briefing from park authorities. Carry along with you rain jacket, jungle boots, enough drinking water and snacks. Mix gorilla tracking and birding e.g. blue turaco to mention but a few. Dinner and overnight will be had at Buhoma Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.
Day 13: Bwindi-Lake Bunyonyi
Whole morning birding at Ruhija Common birds here include: African Green Broadbill, Grauer’s Rush Warbler, Short Tailed Warbler, Rwenzori Turaco, Purple Breasted Sunbird, Regal Sunbird, Kivu Ground Thrush, Montane Masked Apalis, Red Faced Woodland Warbler, Olive Green Camaroptera, Handsome Francolin, Blue Headed Sunbird, Rwenzori Nightjar, Lagden’s Bush Shrike, Waller’s Starling, Oriole Finch, Streaky Seed Eater, Chubb’s Cisticola, Barred Long Tailed Cuckoo and the Brown Capped Weaver. Later drive to Lake Bunyonyi via Kabale a region popularly known by many tourists as the ‘Switzerland of Africa’. You will be taken by the scenery of winding road, hills and valleys, terraced landscape and friendly big people. Dinner and overnight at Heritage Lodge Bunyonyi. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.
Day 14: Lake Bunyonyi-Lake Mburo
The day begins with a boat trip for sightseeing and birding along Lake Bunyonyi . Feel the wonders of nature as you will see big terraced hills, big valleys and birds. Return to the camp for lunch. After lunch drive to Mburo park where you will view the game on your way to your accommodation at Mantana Tented Camp/Arcadia cottages/camping. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.
Day 15: Lake Mburo-Entebbe OUT
After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National park for a game drive. The park is renowned for zebras, impalas, buffaloes, hippos, topi and elands including the rare shoebill, crested crane, pelicans, fish eagle, and heron, Brown Chested Plover, Red Faced Barbet, Southern Ground Hornbill, Papyrus Yellow Warbler, Yellow Billed Oxpecker, African Finfoot and Black Collard Barbet etc. After lunch, drive to Kampala and Entebbe for your evening flight back home or to your next destination Meal plan: Dinner.
