Mount Elgon and Sipi Falls.
The spectacular mount Elgon area provides some of
the most incredible country side in Uganda. The mountain is said
to have one of the largest surface areas of any extinct volcano
in the world and is peppered with cliffs,cave,gorges and waterfalls.
The calderas covers some 40 square km at the top of the mountain.
And the Sipi falls in the foothills of the mountain happens to
be the most beautiful and romantic waterfall in the country.
Day 1
Depart Kampala and travel to the Source of the Nile , view Bujagali
falls. Over night at Nile resort in Jinja.
Day2 Travel to Mbale. After breakfast,
we will take a full day trip on the Sasa trail to see the dramatic landscapes
from the high altitude heath and moorland, we have a full day to explore
the country side. We’ll visit the forest Exploration Center at Kapkwai
in the Chebonet valley and take the mountain Bamboo Trail traversing a
7km loop across the river and to the southern rim of the gorge. Picnic
lunch, overnight at Craws nest camp.
Day3 View Sipi falls! Spectacular scenery is the main
attraction for hikers, a variety of monkeys and small antelopes, along
with elephants and buffalos can be seen.
To the keen birders, a checklist topping 300 birds includes many species
not recorded elsewhere in Uganda.
Other attractions include ancient cave paintings and hot springs within
the crater.Over night at Siipi falls camp.
Day4
After breakfast there will be a short time for a walk before we depart
for Kampala,returning late in the afternoon.
